Guidelines for Drywall Replacement And Remediation

The Department of Housing and Urban Development, along with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, have released new guidelines for replacing recalled drywall. This news will be of interest to anyone who may live in a house with defective Chinese drywall. Unfortunately, there are cases where hurricane damaged homes had defective drywall installed, and other cases where homes built during the housing boom had China Drywall installed by contractors or subcontractors who may not have been aware of the danger involved. .

Notes and Special Information

Special note: The Centers for Disease Control have also issued guidelines. This is not an official US Government site but is dedicated to helping people find out if they have bad sheetrock, and if it should be replaced. Defective wallboard can lead to health issues, corroded wiring, tarnished silver, and damage to electronic products, so it should not be taken lightly.
